I've had some enquiries today about the Yuletide album which got me to thinking again about the experience recording it. I don't know how widely known this is, but when recording something for commercial release it is common to have to perform and listen to the piece many many times, sometimes chalking up hundreds of hours in the studio in the process.
Yuletide was made in many sessions spanning a two year period. The recording of the track "Jingle Bells" was done over a 48 hour period where I listened to nothing else but that tune. I am more than happy with the result but I can't pretend it was anything else other than pure torture.
